Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

The short version: Soothr does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising SDK, and no tracking of any kind — in the app or on this website's core pages. This policy explains exactly what little the app does touch, and why.

Overview

Soothr ("the app," "we," "us") is developed and published by sorensenonsound LLC ("sorensenonsound," "the developer"). This policy applies to the Soothr iOS app and its companion Lock Screen / Control Center widget, and to this website. It's written to match, in plain language, the Apple Privacy Manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy) that ships inside the app and is reviewed by Apple at submission time.

Data Soothr collects

Soothr's privacy manifest declares:

  • No tracking. The app does not track you or your device across apps or websites owned by other companies, and it contacts no tracking domains.
  • No collected data types. Soothr does not collect your name, email, contacts, location, health data, usage data, diagnostics, or any other personal information, and none of it is sent to us or to any third party.
  • No account. There is nothing to sign up for, so we never see an email address, password, or identifier tied to you.
  • No analytics or advertising SDKs. Soothr does not embed any analytics, attribution, or advertising libraries.

What's stored on your device

Soothr uses one small piece of local, on-device storage: whether the sound is currently playing. This is kept in a shared App Group container (UserDefaults) so the main app, the Lock Screen control, and the Control Center widget all show the same on/off state. Apple's privacy manifest system requires apps to disclose this specific API usage — Soothr's declared reason is CA92.1 (accessing app group data to display information from the main app in the app's widget). This value:

  • Never leaves your device
  • Is not linked to you personally
  • Contains nothing more than a true/false playing state

Permissions Soothr uses

Soothr requests background audio playback so the sound can keep looping with the screen off or the app in the background — this is a media playback capability, not a data-access permission, and Apple does not present it as a runtime privacy prompt. Soothr does not request access to your microphone, camera, contacts, photos, location, health data, or any other protected resource, because it has no use for any of them.

Third parties & the App Store

Soothr contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. Purchasing and payment processing for Soothr is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store; Apple's own privacy policy and App Store terms govern that transaction, not this one.

Children's privacy

Soothr is often used in the same room as infants and young children, but the app itself is operated by the parent or caregiver — it has no features directed at children, collects no data from anyone regardless of age, and contains no in-app purchases, ads, or external links a child could act on. Because no personal information is collected from any user, none is knowingly collected from children under 13 or the equivalent age in your region.

Your rights

Because Soothr does not collect, store, or process personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to access, export, correct, or delete on your behalf — your usage stays entirely on your device. If you ever have a question about this, or believe some data exists that shouldn't, contact us using the details below and we'll look into it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of Soothr adds a feature that does involve data collection — we'll update this page and revise the "Last updated" date above before that feature ships.
